I hate to say this but please don’t waste your precious mind on hoping white people are listening. White people read POC opinions out of boredom. This is why everyone is always scratching their heads at the lack of understanding they show toward the issue.
There exists a very tiny minority of white people who came to these conclusions on their own through observation. Jane Elliot, Tim Wise, Robin Di Angelo as you mentioned. But these people don’t need to have these sorts of things explained to them.
Telling white women who don’t care to stop cheerleading is wasting your precious time. I’m not saying they aren’t listening to discourage. I’m saying it as an appeal to reality. Whiteness distorts reality with lies, marketing and narratives aimed to confuse people within the caste system. It is the only game they’ve been playing for the last 4 to 500 years. It is a caste system and they will maintain it through violence, the threat of violence, propaganda and yes confusion and trickery.
I am of course talking about white people at the top of the caste system not necessarily working class whites. But all the same working class whites have been socialized to display behavioral patterns within the caste system to uphold it. In this case fake allyship. This is not much different than what Co intel pro did on a sophisticated scale.
It appears to me they have something resembling fleeting bouts of empathy almost like mood swings of empathy. It is difficult for them to maintain this over long stretches and this is the difference between the majority of people socialized to be white and someone like Jane Elliot. Jane Elliot found her grounding in a moral and ethical stance that did not change. Even if her emotions changed, her commitment to her ethical stance did not. It is a moral compass that only can be gained through education. In essence, it is a stronger instrument built with more solid materials than a fleeting emotion of empathy informed by video clips and snippets of media.
I’m sorry I’m long winded but I want others to free themselves of these impossible cages of confusion and trauma. You have in fact bought into a mythology. A mythology they created as our benevolent captors. This mythology of benevolent civilized captors of POC is exercised when you appeal to their supposed benevolence and civility. To date we have very few examples that this exists within the majority of them. Not as some innate biological assessment but as a byproduct of their socialization into a caste system that maintains its power through violence and the threat of violence. That is the reality.
