I just don’t see them doing this at all because of the inequality that exists in education . I agree with you up to a point. They do give a lot white people jobs based on how they look rather than their skill level. Which causes some white people to overestimate their own abilities. I see this a lot with white people who are anywhere from 17–25. They are extremely overconfident about how intelligent they are. When I try to figure out where the confidence is coming from because it is not obvious at all. The only thing I can come up with is that they are attractive and white.
The promotion thing is out of control. One corporation that does this is Starbucks. I use to work for them while I was in college. I don’t know how Northern Starbuck stores are but Starbuck stores that are located in the South in the U.S hire the most racist white store managers you can imagine. Southern Starbucks stores operate like it’s the 1960s. All the black and POC partners are scheduled together and usually in the afternoon or late at night. This means they do the majority of the manual labor and cleaning. They purposely put white people in the morning to deal with the bulk of the customers. They also promote primarily white people very quickly to management positions passing up POC who often have 4 to 5 years of experience on the white workers.
When I left and got my current job working from home. Right before I left I and 4 other workers reported our store to ethics and compliance. They did nothing. Our manager wasn’t only promoting white people with zero ability. He was also saying weird things like “We are a white store.” He’s also addicted to cocaine and would use the store’s bathroom. He still works on Palm Beach Island and deals with all the billionaires.
