It is a trade off and if we were talking about anyone other than the actual royal family. I would say the trade off might not be worth it.
I am in agreeance with you that class based on the mythology of race is abominable. I would even be happy to see a time where the human population by way of self governance through education achieved full sovereignty. But removing Archie’s access to these tools of self governance when they are only an arm’s length away is selfish. I think Meghan is doing as she sees fit from a maternal perspective and I don’t blame her but Prince Harry is at fault here. Not because he’s some horrible individual but because a fish can’t conceive that it is in water.
The chain of being is a natural principle. So this is the reason for the present institution of a hierarchy. As humans who have risen above the animal kingdom we do have a duty to overcome this hierarchy . The contribution of the aristocracy to this struggle is irrefutable. It was they who laid down the laws. They who defined order out of chaos. Nearly every human from every station of birth has followed their example throughout history. From Aristotle to the Magna Carta. The responsibility that rests on the shoulders of the educated is titanic.
So while it may appear oppressive to those who refuse it. It is actually a privilege to be given the intellectual tools to govern yourself.
So in this specific case Archie is being robbed of his birthright. The real reason Meghan could not stay in the UK is because of the reasons I already mentioned. She was not socialized to be able to handle the immense responsibility of governance. Once again this is Prince Harry’s folly. If Prince Harry really loved her he should have spared her and chosen someone that had been prepared for the position or continued the relationship without marriage.
So while love is necessary it did not overcome the socialized differences between Prince Harry and Meghan.
Do I think Meghan’s childhood looks happier by far, definitely. But are their vast differences between socialized to rule in Europe vs socialized to hopefully take on an American mortgage one day, yes.
If I was downing Meghan for her race or her class that would be abhorrent. But what I’m actually doing is pointing out how little Prince Harry considered his wife’s life vs his own. Of course Meghan could not handle the pressure of a millennia old institution stretching back to the the Middle Ages! It’s ridiculous to expect her to. His own mother could barely handle it and she was prepared for it! What it says to me is that Prince Harry dragged Meghan into a painful existence because he exercised his privilege irresponsibly.
