It’s odd because I just wrote a comment on another article about the Anglo Saxon caste system and how it affects Italian Americans. It’s interesting hearing it from the child’s perspective about how featurism and the elusive concept of whiteness can wreak havoc on the mental health and psyche. It sounds like her anger came from the inability to correctly navigate the caste system and her hatred of her own inadequacies surrounding it.
