Not only was chattel slavery unprecedented, but people don’t seem to understand that African Americans were branded like cattle. Viewing humans as common animals up to that point was unprecedented. Not to mention that yes, it’s a well known fact slavery in different forms has existed for 1000s of years but we aren’t talking about 1000s of years ago! For African Americans the effects of slavery and Jim Crow are very recent. If the different types of slavery the Asian woman was mentioning were recent then we would probably be discussing those too. It’s like saying, “Yes, the Ford Model T was a car, but did you know humans also have been using wheels for transportation for 1,000s of years!”Yes, we do know that but we sometimes talk about Henry Ford because his influence on the current transportation industry is more recent!

The other thing that needs to be addressed is that this Asian woman got her information almost verbatim from a propaganda YouTube channel known as PragerU. It’s funded by a man who is trying to reprogram the narrative surrounding issues like immigration, the founding fathers, imperialism and many other topics. The Asian women took almost all her info from the video Candace Owens participated in for Prager U. It is very, very important that everyone is made aware of Prager U. There is a YouTube channel known as Mr. Beat run by a social studies teacher. He goes through 7 hours of Prager U videos and tears apart their agenda. I suggest watching it.

As for the last point made . Quick and efficiently ? On what planet is taking from 1865 to 1970 (the last civil rights act) efficient ! It took them 100 years to get Caucasian Americans to stop lynching black people ! In fact, I’ve always seen the problem clearly since I was presented with the facts. The reason racism still persists into 2022 is exactly for the opposite reason she mentioned. The administration completely failed to address slavery. This is why the problems still persist. You don’t declare segregation wrong without a well implemented plan and then when the people start spitting on African Americans who are trying to integrate decide to act. African Americans had to do all the work that the US government wouldn’t. They continued to let crimes such as lynching go unpunished in the court system. If the US government had even done 1/3 of their job during the years after the civil war. Racism would have been on the way out 50 plus years ago.

Also, I found out that there were still slaves working on plantations in the 1960s.

They have video footage speaking to the survivors. Because of the fact that many plantations were located in rural areas in some ghastly horror -movie-level cases. Some of the slaves were not aware of emancipation. Their former owners took advantage of the fact that they couldn’t read and kept them in peonage slavery. TVs were not a norm like they are now only the wealthy had them in the 60s. So it would have been very easy in the early 1900s for a former slave master to say something like “Now, I’m going to pay you a cent!” Which the white slave owners aware of the new laws could cleverly say they were following them and the African Americans who could not read at the time and did not know they were technically free would have continued to the work the land. Obviously, there was also very little enforcement in the rural areas.

So no it was not quick and efficient! There were slaves into the 1960s. The U.S government won’t even hear those cases of the slaves found in the 1960s who asked for reparations. Could you imagine the global outcry if a man in 2022 in his 80s was on tv receiving reparations for slavery? The same conditions the U.S tries to present to the world as ending in 1865!
