People are racist because they don’t understand what socialization is. People are socialized to be white and also socialized to be black. But how can you be socialized to be a skin color ? You can’t that’s the point. Only in America do we erroneously assign aspects of socialization to be a biological fact. There is nothing innate or born in melanin or the absence of it. Lack of melanin was simply an adaptation to the environment. Only what we are socialized to believe about our adaptations. White people and black people are not different biologically they are taught to act differently sociologically. So thus you notice that the majority of what separates black and white people in the US is sociologically based.

Sociology is present in education, housing, capital and domestic arrangements. So if you socialize a group of people to see themselves as superior overlords that’s how they are going to act out in every sphere of society. Education, career, domestic instances and the list goes on.

If you teach people that their lack of melanin makes them superior then they will act out on this fundamental belief system throughout society. Whether they reject the belief or not it was present in their socialization growing up as children since that’s what socialization is. The act of acquiring and growing your own identity by manifesting a set of behaviors usually learned. This is why when people with less melanin production adopt a child with more melanin the child will grow up and be accused of “acting white.” Because white is a type of socialization it’s not really a race or whatever nonsense they are peddling these days.

Likewise black people are socialized to be the opposite. Not exactly sure why. But for whatever reason the US system has decided to make black socialization a hellish process. Removing fathers from their homes by killing them in the streets and locking them up. By choosing to put them in schools with outdated textbooks. By giving them childhoods full of lack, hunger and instability. This is what it means to be socialized to be black in the US. To live on the edge of living. This is the magical engagement in life and living that you said you witnessed. They don’t interact with life because of their melanin. They do it because of how they have been socialized to live the opposite experience of people socialized to be white. White is supposed to represent power, leisure, options, time and money. So naturally they would behave differently than black people who had been socialized to believe that they are on the marginal line of society living in fear and with no power or options.
