Probably because the statistics overwhelmingly favor white people in these instances. An exception to the rule isn’t really a rational way of interpreting a statistical trend. The fact that all of us can only come up with one example is called an outlier or exception. Usually when dealing with data trends we don’t use outliers based on our own need to feel validated in our own biases. It was a good honest try at deflecting responsibility for injustice but unfortunately it just doesn’t pass the rationale test, as usual.
