Right but as an American I have had three female friends from three different European countries and they all treated me like a full human being on first meeting. I’m not saying all Europeans behave this way I’m aware this is anecdotal but because they all come from different countries. I started to think about the process of socialization. Clearly there is something in their socialization processes that differ from Americans. Most white women I meet here all start saying, “Hay gurl!” Which again is an indicator of socialization. They are socialized to believe that I am comfortable with the greeting “Hay gurl!” There are American white women who I have known for years that were unable to get over their racism and see me as a full human being. I cut them out of my life but still will always have respect for my European friends.
Basically I’m saying I can agree that some Europeans probably still have a lot of xenophobia but American white people as a majority are xenophobic and racist.
Neither are good but the education and socialization in America is so toxic. At least I can have a well thought out rational conversation with people from Europe. So maybe Europeans have some well thought out excuse as to why they are xenophobic. That’s still easier to interact with than a “Hay gurl!!!” who is so brainwashed she doesn’t even see why changing her greeting toward black people is weird and offensive.
This will come off as rude and classist but I don’t care. Americans are trashy. Born and raised here and I literally have had to wipe the sludge of America off my mind by exposing myself to as much literature as possible.
