This is probably true but I don’t have any data on white class British racism. I haven’t looked into it enough. I’ve mainly focused on studying European American racism. It would be interesting to see how they compare. For instance I would like to see the approval ratings from other American and British noble pairings.

I left in another comment on a topic related to this that. The fact that Meghan does not come from the American aristocracy makes her an outlier to begin with. In the past, most non British pairings with the nobility were usually with Americans that were already apart of the American aristocracy.

I personally have come to the conclusion that socially Harry and Meghan don’t make any sense. Do I think Meghan is beautiful, intelligent and graceful. Yes, I do. But was she socialized similar to Harry? No not at all. This is my reason for making the observation about their pairing from a social perspective.

I think some of the dislike toward her comes from the fact that she is an American from a slightly lower social American class. She is not of aristocratic birth. Which would obviously rub Brits the wrong way who have been told for centuries that they are in the class station they are in because of their class birth station.

The hostility toward Meghan in the UK I think is a mix of classism and racism. I think people have much more class resentment toward her than race resentment toward her but both are present. I’d have to research more though.
